One-stage implant reconstruction
Mr Macmillan is one of 5 European investigators in a trial of a new product in implant reconstruction. This involves using a silk based material to form a support for the implant in combination with your own muscle. This material is an alternative to the other materials that are used for this purpose, which are derived from pig skin or foetal calf skin.
The technique used allows for a one-stage implant based breast reconstruction to be performed at the same time as the mastectomy.
If you require a mastectomy and would like to be considered for this study please contact Mr Macmillan's secretary.
3D Breast Imaging
